Hello Outsider Bloggers,

You never cease to amaze me with the insight you bring to the novels we are reading in class!  I hope that you enjoy discussing and posting about the novels as much as I do : )  Many of you impress me each time I open the comments sections and read through your posts.  You have successfully finished reading one of my personal favorite books of all time!

Obviously you know that I would give this book a fabulous review, but I am always curious about your thoughts.  Please let me know about how you liked the book and why in the comments sections below.  As always, you don't have to agree with me!  If you didn't like the book, by all means let me know and tell me why you didn't care for it.  That's the beauty of reading and discussing novels... everyone has their own perspectives!

  1. Mrs. Steffen,
I really enjoyed this book. I would, personally, give it a good review as well. I liked this book because there was a lot of action and it kept me on my toes and there was definatally, no dull moments.
My favorite part was when Johnny and Ponyboy acted like heros and saved those little kids from the burning church. My least favorite part was when Johnny died. I know he didn't want to die it was really hard on Ponyboy to see him and he like made himself think that he wasn't dead so maybe he wouldn't feel so bad. But I guess with every good things in life there always seems to be a bad thing right around the corner.

    Sincerely,
    -ab

  3. Ms. Steffen-
I really liked this book. It taught me a lot about people and life in general. Sometimes, people aren't as cool and confident as they seem. Everyone, also, is a human being, no matter how much you don't think they are or how much you choose not to think about them personally, they are human. Like I said, I really liked this book. I would recommend it if someone asked for a book.

  4. Overall I liked the book THE OUTSIDERS. (Mrs. Mahoney, I would underline it, but the computer won't allow it.) I liked the part when Ponyboy realizes that Darry really does love him. I would say that I liked the part where Johnny dies, but that would make me sound like a heartless human being. I guess what I mean is that it adds a lot to the story. It makes it a better book. I felt really sad when Darry slaps Ponyboy and they're all stunned. It was kind of like kicking a puppy. This is probably the best book that I have read for school this year.
    Ciao for the last time,

  5. I would give it a 9 out of 10. I would give it that because it had a lot of suspense, action, drama, and friendship. I agree with you, OR.

  6. OR,

I had to laugh because it always bothers me when I post a book title and can't underline it either! Thanks for clarifying : )

  7. OR and Ms. Steffen
Me and CK have descussed the whole not being able to underline the title thing on a Chasing Redbird(that is underlined) book blog. I didn't think that anyone else noticed this other then us. I'm glad to see that it is not only us and that it bothers others to.

  10. This comment is for everyone who has read this book, is going to read this book, and to people who randomly go on blogging sites to read what other people wrote about ramdom things,
I hope you read the WHOLE thing.
I say a 9 out of 10 would be sufficient (this is a good rating from me because I have never gave a book a 10/10, my highest is a 9/10. I don't believe that a person could find a perfect book unless you made it yourself). I really liked this book because I started and finished it on the same day (but I guess that doesn't mean that much because that's how long most books take). Sorry if it sounds like I'm bragging.
I liked how it had a little history of how hard it was when for the rich and the poor to live together. It had action (all the fighting and killing). It had little stories in the big story (tells about gang members' lives). It leaves you hanging no matter where you stop. This book is good because it limites cusing and very violent details, unless they are appropriate for the setting. It has memerable characters that you wouldn't forget any time soon. It shows the good things about staying in school and what could happen if you drop out. It shows what could happen if you don't put a cigarette (burn down a building). It shows how everyone needs something/someone to love and it shows how powerful love is.
This book is stunningly good, very detailed, and it is hard to believe a 16 year old wrote this book. I thought it was very good and have already recomended it to my sibling and a couple other people. This is a powerful book with a powerful messiage. I hope you had fun reading it or have fun reading it.
